The game is incomplete but heading in the right direction. One that can only get better as the dev puts in the time to finish of their product. For me this is already a special game in the making. The scope of possibilities in play-style, the increasing challenge of replaying the same areas to grind XP and loot works fantastically well. Subject-matter, setting, depth and complexity of tactical combat, just add to this bringing together a compelling experience. Dead Grid LEVELS OF ENJOYMENTĮven with its issues and despite it being an Early Access game it provides an very enjoyable experience with some satisfying moments when big combos are pulled off against some really dangerous opponents. Research has a nice take on it, with new discoveries learned during combat while performing actions or kill zombies. The trader and crafting and useful in the greater scope of strategy. Another positive is that combat training and skill-tree customisation allow for some latitude in merc builds. Recruit of non combatant survivors is a nice touch, bring strategic advantages to using their skills in certain areas. Adding enough advantages to makes seeking them out and worthwhile pursuit. All currently are implemented and do a good job of extending the experience beyond combat. That just means there’s more targets to take down. While the noise mechanic is the single-most important factor in determining whether you will prefer using a stealthy team or one that goes in all guns blazing. Finding the right combinations of skills, weapons and training combat is the biggest challenge of the game design. It should be noted that the current inventory system is pretty small and takes a few missions to fully unlock in each merc. The existing range of weapons is amazing and will be added to. Ridiculously powerful combos are its mainstay and provide some wonderful surprises when facing mega-zombies with 16k hit-points. The combination of tactical cards, weapons, skills and combo creates a combat system that has a depth to it that is sure to enthral. Though it lacks balance and some mechanics feel raw. Undoubtedly its best feature and already an amazing experience. They also can gain ranks in missions which will lead you to acquire new skills. Mercenaries Your mercs can gain reputation which will lead you to hire new mercs. Attacking with firearms reduces your ammo. Reaching 0 durability breaks a weapon and makes it useless for this mission.
Attacking with a melee weapon reduces their durability. which can be important based on your strategy and which enemies you face Weapons Your mercenaries can have two weapons (one melee weapon and one firearm) equipped. Hovering over soldiers or zombies will let you see attributes like the durability of weapons, critical hit chance, damage, hit chance, stamina, etc. In later battles, you will draw them again. For the mission’s duration, unplayed cards will go into your deck. If you find something, you will get a card in your hand. They will let you search the area, search for medical supplies, etc. At the start of a turn, you can choose one of three random cards in your hands. Each turn one or more cards of the territories deck will be played. Your soldiers get placed first, then the first turn starts. On top of the screen, you can see all cards the territory holds (zombies, events, and special objects where you can find cards to use within the battle). The battlefield looks like cardboard with one lane on each side. Your squad against „them“ while „them“ are zombies. It’s strategic and the difficulty feels right though Progression. The mechanic of getting new cards every turn also adds something new to the genre. Instead of just battling enemies, cards can be objects too and you can find new stuff. Bugs and localised stability issues reported. Survivors provide strategy aspects to locations. Mix of 2D and isometric visuals.Huge inventory.
